The Neely’s Bend World Cultures and International Arts Magnet School staff and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the
responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.
This school-parent compact is in effect during school year 2025-2026.
School Responsibilities
Neely’s Bend will:
1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
a. The school will provide Highly Qualified Teachers.
b. The school will provide student support through small group instruction based on the students needs using the research data provided by FastBridge, i-Ready & Lexia. The school will provide differentiated instruction to meet each student’s learning style.
2. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held:
a. At the beginning of the year to give parents information concerning Title I Funding. This will be the Annual Meeting.
b. In October. Parent-teacher conferences will be held throughout the day to give parents a chance to visit the classroom and see student’s work.
3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:
a. Progress Reports will be given in the middle of the grading period.
b. Report Cards will be given out at the end of each nine weeks.
c. On the 1st and 3rd report cards, Notices of Concerns will go home.
4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
a. At Open House, faculty and staff will be available to meet with groups of parents to make them comfortable with their child’s learning environment.
b. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held in the fall.
5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and observe classroom activities, as follows:
a. Parents can set up a time with the teachers and administration to visit classroom to observe their student’s behavior and work.
b. A letter will go home in May asking parents for input regarding the school’s Parent Involvement Policy for the following year.
6. Show respect with our words and actions for each student and his/her family.
AS A STUDENT:
• I will be respectful to teachers, staff, volunteers, and other students at all times.
• I will be responsible for my actions and behavior each day.
• I will keep myself and others safe by making safe choices.
• I will be a good citizen by choosing to be honest, caring, and helpful.
• I will participate in learning experiences and complete my work to the best of my ability.
AS A PARENT/GUARDIAN I WILL:
• Talk to my child about schoolwork and activities every day.
• Communicate with my child’s teacher regarding both his/her academic progress and behavior.
• Read to my child or have my child read to me at every available opportunity every day.
• Show respect for my child, other children, their families, and school employees with my words and
actions.
• Check daily to see that all homework is completed.
• Communicate and work with the school staff to encourage my child with academics and positive behavior.
• See that my child attends school regularly, arrives on time, and is ready to learn.
• See that my child wears appropriate school attire.
• Attend school functions during the school year.
• Provide feedback and/or suggestions for improvement.
• Notify the school and teachers of any address, contact numbers, or emergency changes.
• Notify the school about any changes in the life of my child that could affect his/her achievement or behavior.
• Sign up for Class Dojo if it is available for my child’s classroom.
